Nissan X-Trail (2027): First photos of the next generation of the SUV

The strategy focuses on streamlining the global model range and on hybrid powertrains, which also affects the upcoming Nissan X-Trail and its US counterpart, the Rogue. An overview of what is known so far. As a reminder: The X-Trail only received a facelift for the year 2026. So, it is not certain whether the new model will actually arrive in this country as early as 2027.

The changes to the 2027 Nissan X-Trail begin at the front, which has been completely redesigned. The lights are integrated into the grille, which occupies almost the entire front of the Japanese SUV. Overall, the design looks more dynamic and less bulky than the current model. The side view also changes significantly: New lines and edges give the body a clearer, more angular contour, without appearing overly sharp. At the rear, a continuous light bar in the so-called Coast-to-Coast design connects the redesigned taillights.

For the powertrain, the new X-Trail continues to rely on the e-Power drivetrain, which has been revised in various areas to increase efficiency and performance. The technical principle remains that of a series hybrid: an electric motor drives the wheels, while a gasoline engine serves exclusively as a generator to charge the battery. In addition, there is the new AI-Drive system, which integrates artificial intelligence into various driving assistants.
