(Motorsport-Total.com/Motor1) – The Skoda Elroq is one of the undisputed frontrunners in the European electric car market. But the competition is not sleeping – and so Skoda is now pushing a significant update for the popular compact SUV that goes far beyond normal model maintenance. The goal: even more efficiency and a sharper profile. To make your purchase decision easier, we have examined the entire model range and clearly summarized the decisive innovations.

Most changes in the new 2027 model year relate to both the Elroq and the larger Enyaq. There are no changes to the exterior on either, and the interior looks the same as before. However, the Elroq now receives a Google-based infotainment system as well as a Digital Key. Above all, there are different drives and batteries, including the new Elroq 60 with 140 kW and LFP battery.
Exterior
Skoda Elroq and Skoda Enyaq are both based on the Modular Electric Toolkit (MEB or MEB+) of the VW Group. The wheelbases are almost identical, but the Enyaq is 17 centimeters longer. The Enyaq also offers significantly more trunk space. In terms of size, the Elroq is more similar to the Ford Explorer, which is based on the same platform. The VW ID.4, on the other hand, is about ten centimeters shorter:

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Length | Width | Height | Wheelbase | Trunk | |
| Skoda Elroq | 4,488 mm | 1,884 mm | 1,654 mm | 2,765 mm | 470-1,580 liters, no frunk |
| Skoda Enyaq | 4,658 mm | 1,879 mm | 1,622 mm | 2,766 mm | 585-1,710 liters, no frunk |
| Ford Explorer | 4,468 mm | 1,872 mm | 1,632 mm | 2,767 mm | 532-1,460 liters, no frunk |
| VW ID.4 | 4,584 mm | 1,852 mm | 1,634 mm | 2,771 mm | 533-1,565 liters, no frunk |
Skoda forgoes a traditional grille; instead, there is a black panel called the Tech-Deck. The lights consist of a dashed line at the top as daytime running lights and LED headlights one level below. The higher-end versions also have a dashed light line at the upper edge of the Tech-Deck. Instead of the Skoda logo with the Native American headdress, the brand name now adorns the front hood. The doors are still opened with pull handles as usual.
The Elroq rolls standard on 19-inch steel wheels, with optional aluminum wheels in 19 and 20 inches. In addition to “Energy Blue,” which is free of charge, eight other colors are offered, including a red and another blue.
Interior
While newer MEB models like the VW ID.3 Neo already have a larger instrument display, the Elroq still has the small 5.5-inch display. Additionally, there is still a 13-inch touchscreen. To start the system, a button must be pressed. The driving modes P, N, R, and D are activated via a kind of slider in the center console. There you can also activate a B mode with stronger recuperation.
The higher-end Sportline and RS variants have steering wheel paddles to adjust recuperation; however, the settings only remain until the next braking process depending on the driving mode. One-pedal driving to a complete stop is also not possible. Read more about this in our test of the old 85 version.
Drives and Batteries
The Skoda Elroq was introduced in autumn 2024. At that time, there were the versions Elroq 50, 60, 85, and 85X; the RS followed later. The Elroq 50 is currently not offered, the temporarily unavailable 60 is available again, and the other variants continue to be available with partly changed technology.
The new Elroq 60 receives a different motor and a new battery. As with numerous MEB models, the new APP350 motor replaces the old APP310 here as well. In the Elroq 60, it delivers 140 kW, which is 10 kW less than the old engine, but torque increases from 310 to 350 Nm – according to the configurator, while the old value is still in the data sheet (probably an error). In addition, the old NMC battery is replaced by an LFP battery with cell-to-pack architecture. With 58 kWh net, it is slightly smaller than the old battery with 59 kWh net. The range is about 400 km, similar to the old model.
In the Elroq 85, the APP550 with 210 kW and 545 Nm still provides propulsion, with power coming from a 77-kWh battery as before. Apparently, different cells are used because the maximum charging power is now only 165 instead of 185 kW. In addition, the charging time increases from 28 to 29 minutes (10-80%).

The same 77-kWh battery with lower charging power is also used in the Elroq 85X. However, the drive power also increases here: instead of 210, now 220 kW are specified. As the torque specification shows, the APP550 with 545 Nm on the rear axle is no longer used here, but a new motor with 350 Nm (probably the APP350). An asynchronous motor with 134 Nm is added at the front. Due to the higher power, the sprint time shortens from 6.6 to 6.2 seconds. Notably, the consumption and range of the 85X are almost identical to the values of the Elroq 85.

Finally, in the Elroq RS, the 79-kWh battery is replaced again by the older 77-kWh battery. Despite the lower net capacity, the range remains almost unchanged. The maximum charging power also decreases here from 185 to 165 kW, and the charging time increases from 26 to 29 minutes.

The new 58-kWh battery can be charged with up to 105 kW, the 77-kWh battery used in the other three variants with 165 kW. From the manufacturer’s information on charging time, we have calculated the charging speed. For the 77-kWh battery, this results in 77 kWh × 0.7 / 29 min = 1.9 kWh/min. Similarly, for range recharging in the Elroq 85, up to 576 km × 0.7 / 29 min = 13.9 km/min. This means that per minute of charging time, you gain power for an average of about 14 kilometers.

Prices and Equipment
LFP batteries are considered cheaper than NMC batteries. This may enable the lower prices. The old Elroq 60 cost 38,400 euros, the new one is available from 37,390 euros. New are also the equipment variants Essence and Selection. This now results in eight variants:
| Elroq 60 | Elroq 85 | Elroq 85X | Elroq RS | |
| Essence | 37,390 euros | – | – | – |
| Selection | 41,890 euros | 46,390 euros | 48,690 euros | – |
| Sportline | 45,490 euros | 49,990 euros | 52,290 euros | – |
| RS | – | – | – | 54,790 euros |
The standard equipment of the Essence includes 19-inch steel wheels, LED lights, light and rain sensor, electrically adjustable, heated and foldable exterior mirrors, a two-zone automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane keeping assist, and a blind spot warning. For 1,520 euros (or 8.44 euros per month by subscription), there is the Smart Package. This unlocks front parking sensors, seat and steering wheel heating, driving profile selection, and navigation. A heat pump is available for 1,110 euros.
The Selection version builds on Essence, but here the Smart Package is already included. In addition, there are 19-inch alloy wheels, the keyless access system KESSY, Travel Assist, comfort seats, an inductive charging device for smartphones, acoustic glazing at the front, and tinted windows at the rear.
The Sportline also includes matrix LED headlights, taillights with illuminated crystal elements, the illuminated Tech-Deck, different bumpers, sport comfort seats with microfiber leather upholstery, steering wheel paddles for recuperation adjustment, and progressive steering.
The RS version finally offers 20-inch alloy wheels, sporty front and rear skirts, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function (also for mirrors), a massage function on the driver’s seat, heated seats also in the rear, a tailgate with sensor-controlled opening function, a heated windshield, a three-zone automatic climate control, yellow-green decorative stitching on the seats, adaptive dampers (DCC), a surround view system, a head-up display, and a Canton audio system.

Xpeng L03 vs Geely E5: Two electric SUVs compared
In summary
The Skoda Elroq was the electric car with the most new registrations in Germany in the first half of 2026. It is not without reason one of the best-selling electric cars. The compact SUV is a reasonably designed model with a good ratio of range to price. A Kia EV3 offers slightly more range but somewhat too little space for a family of four. The Skoda Enyaq mainly offers more trunk space but little else compared to its smaller brother. But there are many alternatives, for example the Ford Explorer, the BYD Atto 3 Evo, the Geely E5, or the MGS5 EV.
