(Motorsport-Total.com/Motor1) – Renault continues its international product offensive and has now announced the name of its new pickup for the Latin American market. The model will be called Renault Niagara and is part of the “futuREady” strategy plan, with which the company aims to launch a total of 14 new models outside Europe by 2030.

The new pickup is intended to play a central role especially in Latin America and to expand the brand’s commercial vehicle and SUV offerings there. Unlike the Alaskan based on Nissan from years ago, it is unlikely to come to Europe. With the Niagara, Renault continues to pursue the goal of expanding its international presence outside Europe and offering vehicles more tailored to regional market requirements.
Pickups traditionally have great importance in Latin America – both as commercial vehicles and as versatile leisure and family vehicles. Renault therefore positions the Niagara as a model that combines robustness, everyday practicality, and modern technology.
The Sound of the Waterfalls
With the choice of the name, Renault deliberately connects certain characteristics. “Niagara” is meant to symbolize power, robustness, and resilience. At the same time, the name refers to nature, vastness, and adventure. According to the company, the term comes from an indigenous North American language and describes the thundering sound of the water as well as the size of the landscape around the Niagara Falls. Renault sees this as a fitting connection to a vehicle developed both for everyday use and for trips off paved roads.

The Renault Niagara is visually and conceptually based on the Renault Niagara Concept presented in 2023. The production version is expected to combine a robust design with modern technology, high everyday practicality, and versatile applications. Renault describes the model as a spacious and comfortable pickup aimed at both private users and commercial customers. The manufacturer places special emphasis on a combination of functionality, comfort, and a distinctive appearance.

Latin America is considered a strategically important market for Renault. With the Niagara, the company is further expanding its model offensive in the region. Recently, Renault had already introduced the new models Renault Boreal and Kardian there. The Niagara is now intended to complement this range upwards and especially attract new customers in the pickup segment.
Important for Latin America
Jan Ptacek, Vice-President of the Renault Brand LCV Business Unit, described the Niagara as an important building block for the further development of the brand in Latin America. The pickup is intended to strengthen the Renault range in the region and cover different customer needs through its versatility, generous space, and robust design.
The Renault Niagara is produced at the Córdoba plant in Argentina. The official world premiere is scheduled for September 10, 2026. The model is expected to be introduced in several Latin American markets later this year. Renault has not yet provided technical details. The manufacturer has also not made any statements about possible powertrains or electrified variants.
