But don’t worry: the combustion Polo, now built in South Africa, is allowed to live on for a few more years. We recognize a part of the front and rear of the new VW ID. Polo. Optical experiments like those once seen with the ID.3 (now facelifted to ID.3 Neo) are absent. A certain proximity to the current Polo is desired to reach as many existing customers as possible. From the already camouflaged and presented prototypes, we know the wide C-pillar in the style of the Golf.
There are few to no surprises regarding the interior and the powertrains. VW had already unveiled the cockpit of the ID. Polo some time ago. There are many physical buttons, also on the steering wheel, as well as a selectable retro view for the instruments in the style of the late Golf I. Our first practical test showed: It doesn’t take much getting used to, everything is emphatically functional. Depending on the equipment line, different fabrics enhance the ambiance.
The ID. Polo shares its technology with the Cupra Raval, which was the first of the group’s small cars with electric drive to be fully presented. The Skoda Epiq and the VW ID. Cross, both more SUVs, will follow.

The Cupra Raval was presented on April 9, 2026, and has been available for order since then – but so far only in quite expensive launch versions. It starts at 37,250 Euros for the 155 kW Raval Endurance Edition Dynamic. A 166 kW motorization is also already configurable, costing 46,525 Euros. These 226 hp will likely serve as the basis for the upcoming ID. Polo GTI.
Both top Raval models have a 52 kWh battery for 379 to 444 km range according to WLTP standard. Further front-wheel drive models with 85 or 99 kW are expected to follow from September; these will get an LFP battery with 37 kWh net. The trunk volume is a generous 441 to 1,344 liters.
