(MST/Speedmaniacs.de) – Reiza Studios has released the first of two updates focusing on formula racing cars for Automobilista 2. While version 1.6.9.5 is available now, the next update is expected to follow in a few weeks. In addition to strengthening the formula racing car offering in AMS2, the updates will introduce several new features, rules, and improvements. Even though the focus of the updates is clear, there are also improvements for other areas of the racing simulation beyond that.

In V1.6.9.5, the class formerly known as Formula V12 is now found as Formula Edge and provides three more distinct cars with their own advantages and disadvantages for driving. The F-V12 is now called F-Edge Model 1, which is complemented by the V10 Model 2 and V8 Model 3. For the current update, the V12 model has received a chassis overhaul, which is why custom-made designs will need a few adjustments to account for the changes.
As a second new class, sim racers can choose the F-Hybrid Gen1, which combines the first generation of hybrid Grand Prix racing cars and is similar to Formula Edge.
Preparations for the new main version 1.7 and other revisions
With the current version, Reiza is introducing the first physics revisions of the upcoming new main version 1.7 for all slick-based formula classes as well as LMDh/GTP, LMP2 (both generations), GT1, 2005 LMP1/LMP2/GT1/GT2, P1 (both), P2, P3, P4, GTE, GT3 (both), GT4, GT5, GT Open, Porsche Cup, Super V8, G55 Supercup, G40 Supercup, Lambo Diablo ST, Lambo Huracan ST, Ligier EuroSeries, Lancer Cup, Copa Classic, and Copa Uno.
These changes affecting handling are not yet final for all classes. On the whole, no fundamental changes are to be expected; rather, the adjustments aim to achieve further improvements in areas such as aerodynamics, chassis, suspension, tire model, base setup, and force feedback settings through continuous testing. A major change, however, will come with V1.7 regarding the dirty air effect.

Version 1.6.9.5 also introduces high-downforce configurations for the corresponding classes; these are currently available for F-USAs, F-Retro Gen3, F-Classics, F-HiTechs, F-Edge, F-V10s, F-V8s, and F-Hybrids.
Further improvements concern progress in bug fixing in multiplayer mode and the behavior of AI opponents regarding blue flag and error logic as described in the changelog below. The overhaul of the HUD continues to progress slowly according to developer information, which is shown in the newly added WIP tachometer widget.
For the eyes, there are visual improvements to tire smoke, shadow rendering under the vehicle, and the movement of vegetation in the wind, which have been in progress throughout the development cycle and have been further refined for the upcoming version.
