– Logan Sargeant drove in Formula 1 for about a year and a half, then Williams showed him the door during the ongoing 2024 season. In an exclusive interview with Motorsport-Total.com, he has now revealed that, in retrospect, his dismissal was more of a kind of liberation for him.

When asked if he misses Formula 1, the American replies: “No, I’m pretty jaded about Formula 1. That’s probably the right word.” Sargeant entered the premier class in 2023 via the Williams junior program as Alexander Albon’s teammate.
Sargeant clearly lost the internal team duel in his rookie season with 1:27 points, and after failing to score a single point again in the first 15 races of the 2024 season, Williams replaced him with Franco Colapinto, who also came from their own junior team.
“Honestly, I don’t care at all,” Sargeant says today about the abrupt end of his Formula 1 career, revealing: “In the end, I just didn’t want to be there anymore after seeing how some teams work.”
In 2026, Sargeant will compete in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and explains that he is “happy” today about his move to another category. His statements sound a bit like a reckoning with Formula 1.

Among other things, he explains that in the WEC there is “a more pleasant atmosphere, a more relaxed atmosphere, where everyone works together towards the same goal.” Or, in other words: he found his time in Formula 1 to be not very pleasant.
The WEC is “a fantastic championship with fantastic manufacturers,” praises Sargeant, who narrowly lost the title fight against Oscar Piastri in Formula 3 in 2020. While the Australian has now established himself as a top driver in the premier class, Sargeant never made the breakthrough.
He himself has, however, already moved on from Formula 1. The 25-year-old wants to gain a foothold in the WEC instead and answers the question of whether he will also compete in the World Endurance Championship in the coming years: “I hope so!”

This year, Sargeant will compete in the LMGT3 class there, and in 2027 he is set to be a factory driver for Ford’s new Hypercar.
