With its characteristic rear kitchen and flexible sleeping arrangements in the high or pop-up roof, this original Nugget laid the foundation for a loyal fan base, who often accompany their vehicles for hundreds of thousands of kilometers.
At the turn of the millennium in 2000, a significant evolutionary step took place. Based on the fourth-generation Transit, the innovative two-room concept was introduced. By moving the kitchen to the center, the celebrated L-layout was created, which allows one traveler to prepare breakfast while another can still sleep undisturbed.
This clever room layout quickly became a trademark and the heart of the living space. With the Transit Custom in 2013, Ford finally expanded the Nugget’s horizons internationally. The camper became a global success, offering car-like driving comfort that made long holiday trips through Europe relaxing.

The fifth generation, launched in 2023, finally marked the leap into modernity: with plug-in hybrid drive and all-wheel-drive options, the Nugget is now more technologically versatile than ever, without losing its core as a cozy “home on the go”.
The big anniversary year 2026 crowns this 40-year success story with a special highlight. A limited special edition in a retro look revives the iconic black and white design of the early days. Combined with modern luxury elements such as an elegant yacht-style floor, this model bridges the gap between nostalgic memory and the future of travel.
Thus, even after four decades, the Nugget remains exactly what it always wanted to be: a reliable companion for all who seek adventure and want to always have their own home in the rearview mirror.
