Ford Ranger Super Duty (2026): That really hauls

(Motorsport-Total.com/Motor1) – He is the ultimate powerhouse on four wheels and knows no limits off-road ─ the new Ford Ranger Super Duty. At the “Ready Set Ford” event in Salzburg, the heavy-duty pickup recently celebrated its European launch. Now it is coming to Germany for the first time: the occasion is the off-road fair Abenteuer & Allrad in Bad Kissingen (June 4 – 7, 2026).

The newest member of the Ranger family is also the strongest: The Super Duty is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel with 154 kW (209 hp) and delivers a maximum torque of 600 Nm. It offers one ton more payload and towing capacity than its model siblings, so it can carry loads of almost 2 tons and tow trailers weighing up to 4.5 tons.

Moreover, with the new heavy-duty pickup, payload and trailer load do not mean an either-or. According to Ford, the total towing weight of 8 tons allows both – simultaneously transporting heavy loads and towing large trailers.

Ford Pro developed the Super Duty to handle the toughest jobs. For this, the Ford engineers equipped it, among other things, with a revised chassis, a reinforced vehicle frame, and the largest and strongest rear axle differential ever installed in a production Ranger.

The Super Duty is now available by special order for commercial customers – for highly specialized operations on closed premises, company grounds, and for institutions with their own registration rights. Ford Pro sees possible areas of use in the military, emergency services, forestry, infrastructure development, or mining. Ford Pro is currently examining an expansion of the specifications to also use the heavy-duty pickup regularly on public roads.

The Ranger Super Duty is not the only model with which Ford demonstrates its off-road and adventure expertise in Bad Kissingen: the complete Ranger family can be seen in the Ford tent. From the V6 diesel to the 3.0-liter gasoline engine in the Raptor, to the plug-in hybrid, the entire range of powertrains is represented.

As a plug-in hybrid variant, the Ranger offers purely electric driving fun, with 697 Nm the highest torque in the model range, and also serves as a mobile power supply. Thanks to Pro Power Onboard, it can supply electrical devices with up to 6.9 kW – far away from the nearest power outlet.

Especially suitable for the wilderness is also a specially converted Ranger: it is equipped, among other things, with a roof tent, a wheel arch extension, a load increase kit, and even a 22-liter water canister.

Together with renowned partners such as AMF-Bruns Freizeitmobile, Freescape, Sunlight, Terranger, and Offroad Motorhomes, Ford Pro also shows what conversions based on its commercial vehicles are possible for a wide variety of work, travel, and camping uses. The Sunlight Cliff 4X4 based on a Transit AWD and with specific off-road specifications proves, for example, that off-road capability and comfort can be excellently combined. And Offroad Motorhomes sets a three-axle exclamation mark with the 6-Wheeler – a converted Ranger with six wheels!
