The race was converted back to a sprint event after two years as a 6-hour race, as was the case in 2023. It is the only race of the season over the standard distance of two hours and 40 minutes in which all four classes participate.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as the most famous race track in the USA, needs no introduction. However, IMSA has only been on site at the famous facility since 2023. One of its predecessors, Grand-Am, visited in 2012 and 2013 for the Brickyard Grand Prix. After the reunification, the race disappeared from the calendar for ten years.

The race is held on the 3.925-kilometer IndyCar variant of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, whose trademark is a fast chicane on the back straight and a bottleneck in the finish area.

At the penultimate race of the season, it’s do or die for Jack Aitken: If the Cadillac driver manages to increase the championship lead over Laurin Heinrich to 166 points, the V-Series.R from Action Express Racing would only have to cross the start line at the finale at Road Atlanta and the Brit would be champion.

For Heinrich, who returns to the factory cockpit, it will be about catching up as many points as possible to keep his title chances alive. Currently, his deficit is 118 points.

The race will be commentated by the official commentary team of Radio Le Mans around John Hindhaugh and Ryan Myrehn in English. No registration is required for the livestream.
