– Jack Miller has to say goodbye to MotoGP after twelve years at the end of the season, but the Australian will continue his racing career. Yamaha confirmed that Miller is moving to the Superbike World Championship.

Yamaha and Miller agreed on a two-year contract for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. Miller will be the new teammate of Andrea Locatelli. Xavi Vierge has to say goodbye to Yamaha again after just one season.
The Yamaha R1 is not a completely unfamiliar motorcycle for Miller. Together with Locatelli and Katsuyuki Nakasuga, he competed in the 8 Hours of Suzuka. The trio finished second place in both of the last two races.
“I really enjoyed working with Yamaha in MotoGP over the past years, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to see what we can achieve with the R1,” Miller says about his future.
“I already got a taste of the bike in Suzuka. Although the bike differs somewhat in the WorldSBK specification, I am really looking forward to the next chapter of my career.”
Yamaha praises Miller’s experience and personality
In the Superbike World Championship, a lot will change technically in 2027. Michelin will become the new single tire supplier for the series. In addition, the brake material will also change for all manufacturers. So far, steel brakes have been used in the Superbike World Championship.
Brembo will switch to carbon-ceramic brakes in 2027. Miller knows the Michelin tires and pure carbon brakes from MotoGP. In MotoGP, carbon brakes have also been used in the rain for several years.

More MotoGP riders before switching to WorldSBK
Miller will meet familiar faces in the Superbike World Championship. Miguel Oliveira and BMW recently extended their cooperation for several years. The second BMW rider is supposed to be Brad Binder, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.
The swap between Nicolo Bulega and Franco Morbidelli will soon be officially confirmed. Bulega will race for VR46-Ducati MotoGP next year, and Morbidelli will take Bulega’s place in Ducati’s Superbike factory team.

It is still open whether Alex Rins will find a place in the Superbike World Championship after his MotoGP exit. According to rumors, he is in talks with Go-Eleven-Ducati, where Lorenzo Baldassarri could also stay. It also remains to be seen whether Go Eleven could afford the budget for two motorcycles.
