Assetto Corsa EVO: New rating system comes with EA 0.7 and first vehicles revealed

(MST/Speedmaniacs.de) – With the Early Access version 0.7, the development team at Assetto Corsa EVO is making an important change for sim racers. While in other racing games safety systems usually reward players for staying out of trouble, the approach in AC EVO is to reward players who are right in the middle of the race, wheel to wheel but without contact.

The “Safety Rating,” which evaluates whether players have behaved fairly in direct duels with others, is based in Assetto Corsa EVO on the measured duration spent in close competition for positions without the vehicles making contact. There are five levels in total.

Players who drive cleanly and whose cars are in close proximity to their opponents receive a better rating than players who keep a large distance between vehicles and tend to linger at the back of the field. If an accident does occur, the point of contact and the severity of the collision are analyzed to penalize aggressive behavior.

In close racing, damage from contact with opponents is usually less severe than incidents caused by high-speed excess. The latter is sanctioned with a drastic impact on the Safety Rating.

In summary: Those who drive close but remain fair get a better Safety Rating. Those who play it safe and keep a lot of distance will hardly notice any change in their rating. Those who drive close and touch opponents must accept that their Safety Rating will drop.

EA 0.7, which is reportedly set to launch in June, will also bring new vehicles to players. While the total number is still open, Porsche 935 (2018), Datsun 240Z, and Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport Evo Kit have already been officially confirmed.
