Open Session Ticker now!
The race in Monaco starts in ten minutes, and we’re moving the action to our session ticker for now. So, there’s a short break here; after the finish, we’ll continue with reactions to the Grand Prix at this point.
And if you want to know how you can watch Formula 1 live this weekend, you can find out here.

Audi Update
Small update from Audi. They haven’t given up hope of sending both cars into the race. “We have to start from the pit lane, but let’s see if we can do it,” Bortoleto told Sky.
Investigation against Perez
Meanwhile, the Mexican has already earned an investigation before the start because he apparently performed his practice start in the wrong place. This will be investigated again after the race.
Lawson on the grid, Bortoleto not
The information from our colleagues was probably not correct. Lawson did make it onto the grid. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the problems with his car are permanently resolved.
The bad news: Bortoleto didn’t make it; he rolled out just behind the pit exit. Is Audi losing another car here before the start?
It’s certainly clear that there won’t be a start with 22 cars again. Bortoleto will now at most be able to follow the field from the pit lane.
Pit lane open
40 minutes until the start and the pit lane is now open. Drivers now have ten minutes to make their way to the grid. According to Sky, Lawson will definitely not make it.
“At best, he will start from the pit lane,” says expert Martin Brundle. So, no 22 cars on the grid again.
Or maybe not…
Perhaps we rejoiced too soon. Apparently, there’s a problem with Liam Lawson’s car. So maybe only 21 cars on the grid again. Let’s see if the Racing Bulls can sort it out. The pit lane opens in ten minutes.
22 Cars on the Grid
For a change, we’re experiencing a race today where all 22 cars start from the grid. The FIA has just published the final starting grid, and no one is starting from the pit lane this time.
In fact, this has only happened once this year, at the Japanese Grand Prix. Otherwise, at least one driver has always started from the pit lane – or not at all.
It starts in an hour.
ADVERTISEMENT: The NitrOlympX from a VIP Perspective
Have the pictures from Monaco made you want to experience a race track as a VIP yourself? Then we recommend the NitrOlympX at the Hockenheimring!
The NitrOlympX are far more than classic motorsport. They stand for pure speed, maximum precision, and adrenaline at the highest level. When the world’s top teams line up on the Rico Anthes Quartermile, every hundredth of a second counts, and the entire asphalt vibrates.
In the VIP area of the Tower Lounge, an extraordinary perspective on the action opens up for you. In an elevated position above the Quartermile, you get an excellent overview of the entire track.
Exclusive comfort and a special atmosphere make the event uniquely experienceable there. Attention: VIP tickets for the event from August 21st to 23rd are limited.

Drivers’ Parade
Less than two hours until the start, and the drivers’ parade is currently underway in Monaco. Here you can get some live impressions from the principality:

Strategy
For completeness, we’ll take the obligatory look at the race strategy. Because the two mandatory pit stops have been abolished this year, Pirelli, not surprisingly, exclusively suggests one-stop strategies.
When this one stop is ultimately completed will largely depend, among other things, on whether there is a safety car or even a red flag.
Series Winners
Kimi Antonelli has the best chance today to claim his fifth consecutive Grand Prix victory. He would be only the tenth driver in the history of the premier class to achieve this. More on this in our photo gallery:

Weather
A quick look at the sky, but that will probably be the only one today (unlike recently in Canada), as rain is not forecast for this race Sunday.
It is expected to remain dry all day, which, of course, doesn’t help the drivers starting further back. They will have to try to move forward somehow through strategy.
Formula 2: Victory for Red Bull Junior
Exciting: The Formula 2 main race in Monaco was also just won from P2 – and thus not from pole. Red Bull junior Nikola Zolow prevailed against Ferrari’s Rafael Camara, who had started from P1.
Camara led for a long time but ultimately did not see the checkered flag after a braking error in the duel with Zolow. We are curious to see if the series continues in Formula 1 later and if the winner also comes from P2 there.
That would then be Max Verstappen…
What happened so far
If you missed yesterday’s Saturday, you still have enough time before the race start to catch up with our video on qualifying.
Today, we will also be back in the evening, of course, to discuss the Monaco GP live with and for you. It starts at 10:00 PM on the Formel1.de YouTube channel.

Vasseur is back
All-clear at Ferrari: After Frederic Vasseur was unwell yesterday, the team principal is back at the track today. Ferrari has not provided more detailed information about his health.
In any case, we are happy that he is back. The Ferraris will start the race from P3 and P4 later.
Formula 3: Victory for Badoer
While Formula 1 will only race in a few hours, Formula 3 was already busy. The main race there took place in the morning, and Brando Badoer ultimately prevailed. Yes, that is indeed the son of former Formula 1 driver Luca Badoer.
For Badoer, it was his first victory in Formula 3 – and the first race this weekend not won from pole. The sprint race winner started from P1 in both Formula 2 and Formula 3 on Friday. (Even if the sprint winner in Formula 3 was later disqualified.)
Badoer “only” started from P2 earlier but took the lead directly at the start.
